Commercial Asphalt Milling & Pulverizing

Remove Damaged Pavement. Rebuild from the Base. Extend the Life of Your Lot.

When your asphalt surface is deteriorating but the base is still salvageable, milling and pulverizing offer cost-effective alternatives to full removal and replacement. At Total Paving & Brick Services, we use both methods—depending on the condition of your pavement—to prepare your surface for resurfacing or reconstruction, saving you time and money.

Our team will evaluate your lot and recommend the best approach to restore structural integrity, drainage, and curb appeal without overbuilding or overspending.

What’s the Difference?

Milling is the controlled removal of the asphalt surface to a specified depth—usually 1″ to 3″—while leaving the base intact. It’s typically followed by a new asphalt overlay.

Pulverizing (also called full-depth reclamation) goes deeper. It grinds the asphalt and part of the base together to create a new, re-graded sub-base. It’s ideal for severely failed surfaces or uneven grading.

When to Mill

  • Asphalt surface is cracked or worn, but base is solid
  • You want to add a new overlay without raising curb height
  • Goal is to extend life of pavement without full reconstruction
  • Ideal for parking lots, drive lanes, and street resurfacing

When to Pulverize

  • Asphalt surface is cracked or worn, but base is solid
  • You want to add a new overlay without raising curb height
  • Goal is to extend life of pavement without full reconstruction
  • Ideal for parking lots, drive lanes, and street resurfacing

What’s Included in Our Milling & Pulverizing Services

Each project begins with a pavement inspection and grade evaluation. From there:

If milling:

  • Mill existing asphalt to the required depth
  • Remove and haul away material (or recycle onsite if applicable)
  • Sweep and prepare surface for overlay or paving

If pulverizing:

  • Grind asphalt and base together to full-depth
  • Re-grade and compact the new base layer
  • Fine-tune slopes for drainage
  • Prepare for new paving or concrete surfacing

We’ll work with you to determine the right depth, finish, and schedule based on your property’s usage and long-term needs.
